We really had a great experience at Sorghum and Salt! | Food | 5 stars = [Under "Flora"] The watermelon dish topped wit whipped feta and arugula was refreshing and with perfectly complimentary flavors 5 stars = [Under "Fauna] Acorn Squash with bell pepper and pistachio butter resting on a bed of Katsuobushi sauce was unique, tasty and substantial 4 stars = [Under "Fauna"] BBQ Shrimp dish consisted of layered complex flavors, although the sauce was a bit heavy for the shrimp | Drink | They have a nice selection of local (and other) craft beers. | Service | Great service was provided by Ellie! She helped us with decision-making and let us know about the portion sizes. | Ambience | It's kind a "farmhouse chic" kind of place. Nothing fancy but comfortable. Just a note: our bill included a 3% "non-cash adjustment" fee.

Cozy and casual ambiance, friendly and laid-back staff. Food is fresh, inventive, and delicious -- high quality without feeling stuffy or pretentious. These folks are working so hard to be casual, the tables are unrefined upcycled wood and the metal chairs are some of the most uncomfortable I've ever endured. But, the wonderful food and unique wine list left me smiling, so it was worth the sore bottom!

Ambiance is electric / chic / rustic Nothing is a miss Wow So well done Tres Jackson and team Will see you soon

Wow! This place is amazing. Boyfriend and I wanted a nice meal for our last night visiting Charleston and this place served! We decided to go for the four course tasting menu. Since my boyfriend is vegetarian, they altered his courses to reflect his preference. They added a complimentary course to kick it all off. Each course was unique from the previous dish. Everything was seasonal and so fresh, flavors and textures were well rounded. Well done chef and staff! Your casual hipster/urban sheik atmosphere was lovely. Our server was amazing and so helpful. Will have to return on out next visit FOR SURE! And recommend to all our loved ones.

S&S appealed to me because of their many vegan and vegetarian options. I made a reservation for our stay in Charleston and chose the "tasting counter" because who doesn't love a good tasting counter? I highly recommend this if it is available because it's a really cool experience to watch the dishes be prepared in front of you. Even if you can't or don't want to sit at the counter, the open concept kitchen is available to view from most of the dining room. They have both a tasting menu (with wine pairing!) as well as an a la carte menu. We're sluts for a tasting menu but there were such enticing and mouthwatering shit on the a la carte menu that we decided to order a bunch of shit off of there to share. We weren't quite sure about the portion sizes so we threw a dart into the dark and ordered four things to share which I felt was perfect for me. I could have squeezed in something else but I figured I could survive eating an appropriate but not excessive amount for one meal of my life. Ok so we started with their homemade ricotta which was creamy and delicious with a sprinkling of delicious green shit and served with delicious toasted but soft and thick bread. This dish literally could not have been better. For the second course, we moved things along with the heirloom cucumbers laying on a green goddess-esque dressing and topped with fresh dill. This was INCREDIBLE with a flavor combo that was pure crack. This was easily one of the best dishes I have ever had. If it was more socially acceptable, I would have legit licked that scrumptious sauce off of the plate. Next, we received the little gem lettuce dish with bread crumbs and pomegranate seeds. It was fun to cut the lettuce wedge but this was my least favorite dish. There was something very overwhelming about this flavor, almost like a vinegar tartness. Finally, we were served the celery root, topped with caper slaw. The celery root was cooked perfectly, breaded, and lightly fried. Definitely better than what I have prepared or myself at home. This was a very close competitor for my favorite dish of the night with the cucumber. GF ordered the scallops with mushrooms to top everything off. She says, "it was good". The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service.
